Support Us

Tim Bray Theatre Company is a specialist Auckland theatre company creating world-class stage shows and Youth Theatre programmes for children and young people. We believe that theatre and creativity can be transformative, supporting the mental wellbeing of our tamariki and building their confidence.

Tim Bray Theatre Company is a registered charitable trust. The work we do is funded by  generous donations from individuals. We invite you to be part of our vision and support us through a donation. Together we can enrich the lives of children and young people through transformative arts experiences.

“The students left the theatre with smiles on their faces and a renewed sense of the magic of live performance. The play had not only enriched their understanding of literature but also ignited their passion for the arts.”

Theatre For All Appeal

Your donation supports our work to allow current and future generations to access children’s theatre.

With the cost of living crisis, a tough economy, an increase in operational and production costs and funding cuts, our charity is finding it very challenging to continue our work at the same level that we are currently doing in years to come.

The closure of two prominent and respected children’s theatres in New Zealand in the past 6 months reinforces that theatre for children is often overlooked and underfunded.

Donations received through Gift a Seat® and funding is not enough to cover our theatre operational expenses.

Your generous donation will enable our charity to continue to make theatre accessible and equitable for all children and families, regardless of ethnicity, gender, disability or socioeconomic background.

Be part of our vision. Together, we can help current and future generations build imagination, creativity and confidence through theatre.

Gift a Seat®

Make a difference to children by letting them experience the joys of live theatre.

On the edge of their seats, these children are immersed: transported, joyful, fearful, anticipating, calling out, cheering. Precisely as intended, they are playing a part in the performance. Gift a Seat® makes the world of children’s theatre accessible to everyone and inspires them through the love of the performing arts.

Individuals and companies have the unique opportunity to sponsor children from early childhood centres and schools that need support, Ko Taku Reo Deaf Education for NZSL interpreted shows, BLENNZ (Blind and Low Vision Education Network of NZ) for Audio Described performances and families from Make-A-Wish (NZ) to come and attend our shows.

Mary Amoore Gift a Seat® Scholarships provide a free term of Youth Theatre classes or free enrolment in a Hit the Stage! school holiday programme for families in times of hardship.

Having an opportunity to experience live theatre or get actively involved in drama activities themselves is a life enriching experience some children will never have without Gift a Seat™.

The Impact of Gift a Seat®

Ko Taku Reo students that attended Roald Dahl's The Twits at The PumpHouse Theatre

“We at Ko Taku Reo Outreach are children with hearing loss who are often isolated in their schools due to being the only person there with hearing loss. Because we have difficulty with learning, language and making friends, as communication is challenging, we are often overlooked, marginalised and lonely.

Your gift has meant that we can get together as a big group of kids, just the same as me. It helps us to know who we are, and that we are O.K. just the way we are.

The NZSL Interpreted shows are made just for us. The humour and visual nature of the show, mean we can follow, understand and enjoy the show just like hearing kids. Having Kelly, the interpreter, in the spotlight, makes us feel proud of our visual language. Once again “Thanks”. You don’t really know how much this means to us all.”

Ko Taku Reo Outreach

“As educators this is a great learning experience for our tamariki who rarely get the chance to see shows of this type unless offered. These experiences provide rich language and visual experiences for our tamariki. It also allows them to see what other jobs or passions they can pursue when setting goals. The teachers were able to draw out lots of language especially with our English Language Learners through discussion, Art work, story writing, role-playing, drama and making activities. They also built lighthouses out of reusable resources too.”

Donate

Every donation makes a difference.

We rely on donations to continue to inspire audiences through the power of imagination. Any support you can give us, whether by making a one-off donation or signing up to support us each month, will help support the future delivery of shows, workshops and, most importantly, our accessible performances.

As a registered charitable trust, all contributions to us over $5 are eligible for a tax rebate.

The impact of your support will extend beyond the stage. Donations enable us to welcome children from disadvantaged backgrounds and children with disabilities to revel in the magic of live theatre.

Oh behalf of the children, thank you for your support.

Supergenerous

Make your donation tax rebate come back to us

Supercharge your generosity

Did you know, if you donate $5 or more to Tim Bray Theatre Company you are eligible for a 33.33% donation rebate?

If you’re like us and struggle to get around to claiming your donation rebates, then you may also be excited by our partnership withKiwi social enterprise Supergenerous (formerly Fund a Future).

The Supergenerous online platform makes the donation rebate process hassle-free. They collect donation receipts from the charitable organisations you give to, manage the claiming process with the IRD and distribute the funds – saving you from manually managing the process yourself.

All you need to do is sign up via their website, give them your details and the names of the organisations you’ve donated to – and let them do the rest. You pay nothing upfront. If they successfully secure a donation rebate for you, they take a small fee of 15% + GST.

So why have we partnered with them? Because they give you the option to re-gift your rebate directly to charities like ours. There’s no pressure to do so, it’s just an easy way to make your original donation go a bit further and means the world to us.
